For Counsellors
The Discovery Centres offer several distinct services currently unavailable elsewhere. They include:
- Complete (and modified) holistic educational assessments specific to ABE. Each assessment is conducted
by a highly qualified professional adult educator through personal interview with a minimum of "testing".
- Cursory assessment and identification of learning problems/disabilities.
- Referral service to an educational psychologist for formal diagnosis of learning disabilities.
- Learning Disabilities (LD) Specialist available to work with LD students to develop strategies for use
in secondary, post-secondary, and life experiences.
- Monthly progress reports detailing academic progress, accomplishments, areas of concern, and attendance.
- Ongoing academic counselling in conjunction with career and post-secondary training options.
- Optional delivery methods to suit individual learning styles [i.e. teacher-led classes, project-based learning]
- Select curricula within the ABE program revised to help students learn more effectively.
